CONDEMNATION STATEMENT
Baghdad: The Assyrian General Conference
On the morning of Thursday 20/July/2006 at 8:30 a.m. the headquarters of the Assyrian General Conference was subject to a vicious assault by armed militias wearing the uniforms of the Iraqi national police. They attacked the guards at the entry, then tampered with the property and stole some of the funds belonging to the Conference.
We at the Assyrian General Conference deplore this cowardly attack carried out by this rotten group as we hold the Iraqi government, and in particular the Ministry of the Interior responsible for this insecurity as well as the continuous deterioration.
We affirm that we will continue to strive for our legitimate rights and building a unified democratic Iraq where all can enjoy living without any ethnic, religious, denominational or sectarian discrimination.
